Me & Sun – Corneglia, Italia

Time management, another bit of the stuff they never teach you. Around age four, we start going to school, and for 13 years we are not given much opportunity to develop time management skills. We’re locked into a schedule that we have no control over, and by the time we reach college, we can’t wait to sleep in and skip class. That lasts for 4-6 years then, it’s back to an 8-5 schedule. Bleghh
I appreciate having the freedom to choose my daily routine, but I realize I need a somewhat consistent schedule. Today, as I was organizing a schedule for myself, I started to fill it in just like a typical schedule. About three hours of work, then lunch, then about 4 more hours of research and productivity.
Immediately, I noticed a blaring hole in my plan. I was putting myself on the very same schedule that most hope to break free of. In fact, working typical hours causes me to be less productive, because I’m longing to be outside in the Sun. It’s easier to focus at night when the Sun isn’t out to play. Working the daylight away is depressing. I certainly can’t enjoy the park or trails as well at 9 pm. . . unless there’s a full moon.
I am definitely motivated to create, but I realize that I am not as productive if I don’t get my Sun time. How else will I continue to shine?! So, I plugged 3-4 hrs of “Me Time” in the middle of my day for yoga, hiking, biking, tree climbing, walking, exploring, lil Munchkin (my dog), etc.

Remember to “stop and smell the flowers”, enjoy the world around you, and make time for the SUN! It is a therapy that cannot be replaced. Time with the Earth is regenerative. Nourish your body, mind, and spirit as often as possible.
